Advertising Sales Representative

IT Systems / Prepress Production Manager
The Daily World at Aberdeen, Wash., is seeking an experienced IT Systems/Prepress Production Manager. We're looking for a bright and personable team player with knowledge of Macintosh OS X client and server, all Adobe software packages and Quark XPress. Knowledge of computer and network troubleshooting practices and procedures. Experience with Microsoft Windows, Office and Lotus Notes would be a plus. This individual is responsible for all system integration and IT functions, including nightly backups, user training, work station maintenance and network management. The IT manager oversees the Prepress production staff, manages the newspaper's Internet presence, troubleshoots all user issues and prepares and oversees an annual budget. He or she also supports three weekly properties. Offered is a competitive compensation package with excellent benefits and opportunity for advancement.

The newspaper, located in Aberdeen, on the Pacific coast of Southwest Washington, has a daily circulation of approximately 13,000. Printing afternoons Monday through Friday and mornings on the weekends. Aberdeen is located on historic Grays Harbor, 20 minutes from the Pacific Ocean beaches and less than an hour from the Olympic National Park. World-class salmon and steelhead fishing, hunting and hiking are at our front door. The capitol city of Olympia is 45 minutes away and Seattle is 90 minutes away. Grays Harbor College in Aberdeen offers four-year degree programs through two partner universities and extensive vocational programs. The cost of living is dramatically lower than in the Olympia-Tacoma- Seattle area, and housing is remarkably affordable.

Collaborate with our print advertising division to develop new online business opportunities for current print advertisers.

Qualified candidates will have a minimum of (1) year online media experience and a Bachelor's degree, with any additional sales experience a definite PLUS.

Other required skills: Facility in MS Word, Excel, and Power Point, as well as familiarity with email operations and knowledge of ad management/reporting software used in general online ad scheduling.

Senior Network Engineer
Network Engineer's role is to plan, direct and coordinate the design, installations and connectivity of computer and network systems to ensure the stable operation of the organization's IT assets. These include all routers, firewalls, load balancers, storage, remote data replication, remote access devices, security monitors, e-mail services, telephone equipment and network switches.

Qualifications, skills, characteristics required: College diploma or University degree in the field of computer science/engineering or information systems, CCNA certification required. Ten years of IT-related experience. At least 5 years experience. Managing configuring enterprise-wide-LANs, WANs, WLANs, VPNs, etc.

Videographer
Ideal candidate must have strong proficiency with Final Cut Pro and Flash development, camera shooting skills, audio editing, standard subject lighting and knowledge of After Effects and/or Motion. The ability to set up and conduct shoots in a variety of settings and with rapid turn-around time is essential. The successful candidate should be able to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, and should feel comfortable meeting several deadlines thoughout the day.

Qualifications: A basic understanding of multimedia journalism is desired but not essential; the willingness to adapt to learn quickly is. Required skill set: Final Cut Pro, Adobe CS suite, iLife, Audacity, Quicktime Pro, After Effects.
